Top 10 (or so!) Photos from the trip

Some of these are my images, others are borrowed from my wonderful family! Thanks, guys!

1. My dad and brothers demostrate the "Watkins Wave" at the Watkins Family Reunion in Solvang, CA.
2. Downtown Solvang, CA. My new favorite place.
3. Us in Yosemite National Park, specifically the river crossing at Wawona. One of my favorite family pictures ever.
4. My mom & Addison, also at Wawona.

5. Andrew & Evelyn fully enjoying their time at Disney.

6. Addison's unforgettable reaction to the Disney Princesses.

7. Addison taking in the world around her while at Glacier Point in Yosemite.

8. Pretty girl on a hike in Zion National Park.

9. My brothers: dorks, or the coolest guys on earth? Impossible to distinguish.

10. My dad, Doodah / Dude, with Addison at The North Rim's Grand Lodge.
11. With Amaly at the Grand Canyon. It's actually one of the best canyon views we got in a photo. If I hadn't actually been there myself, I might suggest we were simply standing in front of a green screen or picture of the Grand Canyon. I love it.

12. Anacapa Island, Channel Islands State Park. One of my favorite views from the trip, despite the fact that I was working through the sea-sickness I experienced on the way out. Everything about this place was spectacular. So glad we went.

I am SURE there are other photos I love, but these are the ones that come to mind pretty immediately. I hope you enjoy. :-)

kids' parties

We went to Zoinks this morning for Thatcher's 3rd birthday party. (Thatcher is one of Addison's classmates). She was extremely overwhelmed by the huge inflatable bounce houses and slides, but once Thatcher took her around and showed her how it all worked, she hung in there with the toughest of the tough boys. She liked the Disney Princess bounce house the best, but tried almost all of them in the end. We are hoping that she may know how to jump now, after so much practice this morning. We'll cross our fingers....

I failed to take my camera to the party (boo), but luckily Thatcher's parents are professional photographers, so there were plenty of cameras around. Linda (Thatcher's mommy) says they will post pics from the party on their blog soon.

Busy weekend for us: visiting with Trevor & Jen & Yoshi, Mother's Day dinner with Robert's family (and "MY cousin David"), Mother's Day dinner on Sunday with my family. Plus, last night we had to get 4 new tires for my car (yes, i assumed one of my kids slashed my tire, but no, they did not. It was a screw. Since the tires were almost down to the wear bar, we got a whole new set instead of just patching the flat). Luckily for us, Costco is open unti l 8:30 on weeknights AND they had a $70 off four new tires discount! The Browns sure do know how to party on a Friday night. :-)

Birthday news

I had a GREAT birthday! Robert sent me flowers at work which was exciting. The kids were amazingly well-behaved today. FCAT Writes went well (Read: No one refused to complete the test!). Addison sang "Happy Birthday dear Mommy!" at least twenty times! I got some great gifts (thanks everyone!). My mom & dad came to have cake with me tonight. AND there was beautiful weather all day! I couldn't have asked for a better day.

And then something not-so-awesome happened. My camera card died. All my special birthday pictures and videos are now lost in computer/digital camera oblivion. Thankfully my mom & dad took some pics when they were here. Hopefully they will email those pics to me! (Please and thank you, Mom!).

Happy Birthday to me!

life in brown town

So, this week felt crazy busy. I think it was because I was gone for two days last week. Going out of town always seems like a good idea, but then you return to reality and find out how far behind you are in your regular life!

I had a great week at school, Robert had a surprisingly productive week at work, Addison was excited to go to school every morning. It was a good week overall. Addy loves her new teacher Ms. Kristin. Kristin often braids Addy's hair into the most beautiful french-braid pigtails, and Addy is SO proud of them! Add is resisting using the potty still, so when you speak to her, please encourage her to use the potty like a big girl. She used it twice at home today, but has yet to try at school.

I have been very lazy with picture-taking lately. Don't have any new photos to share, other than what's on the slide show here.

Go Steelers! Whoo hoo! (Like I really care, I just picked a team for the sake of picking!) :-)

Happy Saturday night!

deprivation of computer time in excess of five days results in excessive blogging upon return of computer

HALLELUJAH! My photos have been found by Picasa's search function! I cannot explain in words how happy I am at this moment! WHOO HOO!

December photos will be posted on my Picasaweb site as soon as I take some. Since I've been sans computer for a week, I've avoided taking any pics. Stay tuned.

busy week

Our laptop is back, but it had to be scrubbed. There were tons of extra videos and pictures of Addison that were not uploaded online that are not lost forever. It's a very sad day for me. I have learned my lesson, though, and we will be buying an external hard drive this weekend. I will never again lose all my memories. Dumb computers.

In happier news, we didn't have to buy a new computer or hard drive.

VERY busy week. Monday was our only calm evening. Tuesday Uncle Patrick came over for an early birthday dinner. Since he was here, Addison has pointed to the chair where he sat at dinner & said, "Uncle Patrick's chair". No one else is allowed to sit there now. :-) Wednesday was Book Fair night at school, and I was supposed to visit my friend, Kendra, in the hospital, but got sick that day with a cold/sinus something, and never made it. (I still haven't been to visit her & I feel awful about that!). Thursday is our normal busy day after school, 'cause I always have a meeting. Friday was exciting. We had our picture proof preview at Long's Photography. We will have an online gallery available at: http://www.longsphotography.com/pickpic/gallery/jump.php
(password: Maclay) where you can see all the images from our photo shoot and order any, if you want. The images will be available online from tomorrow (12/6) until 12/12. Long's designed the most awesome Christmas cards ever for us. I can't wait to mail them out. Should be about two weeks, but it all depends on how long they take at the printers. We ordered a five photo "story board" for Addy's room. It has a variety of the photos on it. We hope she'll enjoy it for many years. It's going to be printed on wood, so it should endure time well.

After that, we rushed to pick up Adds & then ran to Macaroni Grill for Janie's 38th birthday dinner. Did you know that at Macaroni Grill, if it's your birthday, they will sing Happy Birthday to you in Italian? With an operatic voice? They hire voice majors from FSU specifically to sing Happy Birthday in Italian. That's crazy, right? It was really cool, but I still think it's crazy. While we were at dinner, we noticed that Adds had a fever. Her wonderful Daddy literally RAN to CVS to buy her some Tylenol. Don't know how high her fever was then, but when we got home (and after a dose of Tylenol) she was at 100.4. It's likely her 2 year molars combined with her cold that are causing it. It's been a long time since she's felt so bad. She moped all through dinner. Sat in my lap & whined. Then my dad came in (to tell Robert something about the family poker game tonight, since we didn't hear our phones ringing) and after he left, Adds cried, "Doodah! Doodah!" - over & over & over. She even tried to run toward the door after him. Too cute, but I think Robert's parents were a little insulted. She must be feeling better now, because she went right to sleep with no arguments, and she's been sound asleep for almost an hour.

Be on the lookout for Addison's birthday invitation in the mail, everyone! Party will be on 12/21. Evelyn designed an adorable card again this year, so prepare to be blown away!

I am so glad this week has come to an end. We are very much looking forward to the weekend - Winter Festival tomorrow, and Market Days on Saturday. Yeah!
