Father's Day!

Today, I've heard people say that Father's Day is an unnecessary, made-up holiday. Maybe it is, but if we didn't have it, would people remember to pay respect and say "thanks" to the dads in their lives? My best guess is that, if we didn't have these "made-up holidays", Dads would go largely unappreciated the whole year through. There might be brief moments of recognition here and there throughout the year, but certainly not a whole day's worth.

So, here is my giant thank you to my dad, my grandfathers, and my husband:

THANK YOU! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

To my dad: Thank you for always reminding me that spontaneity is sometimes necessary and well worth the risk. For teaching me about camping, fishing, and respecting nature. For helping me develop my own thoughts about life and supporting my ideas. For always being willing to pitch in and help - even when you aren't excited about it! For loving and supporting me and my family unconditionally! I love you, Dad!

To my husband: Thank you for never failing to listen to me. For always helping me see the best course of action, especially when I'm a frantic mess. For loving me even when I'm not fun to be around. For being my unfailing support for the last 2 1/2 years as we have adapted to life with Addison. For always thinking of fun, new things to expose Addison to. For having such endless patience with Addison (and me!). For reminding Addison & me how to have fun! Addison loves and adores you, and so do I!

Congrats are also for: Addison's 2 1/2 birthday today! Andrew and Evelyn closed on their first new home!

i am so old...

that I now like V8 juice. Not the regular kind, just the Fusion kind. Specifically the Pomegranate Blueberry flavor. It's yummy and it helps me get more veggies in my life. I still can't really stomach eating veggies, so I may as well drink them.

I am also so old that my graduating high school class has scheduled it's 10 year reunion. The reunion will be next June, sometime mid-month. I forget the exact dates. I attended the interest meeting, but left before it ended because I took Addison (Robert was at a poker game) and she had a bathroom emergency that dictated an early departure. Bathroom habits aside, in my absence, my lovely high school friends Lindsey and Chinonye nominated me for the Historian committee. This is fine with me. Better that than the Finance committee or Events committee. Nostalgia is my comfort zone and I'm happy to help. The historian committee met tonight and came up with some ideas. I am responsible for organizing either a live performance or video/recording of the RHS Alma Mater. I am also helping with the scanning of each person's Senior picture from the yearbook for use in a slideshow. I am hoping to use Windows Movie Maker, rather than Powerpoint. I think it will be easier...any thoughts? I am sort of dreading scanning and cutting and saving each picture as an individual file and posting them all into a slideshow/movie. Thankfully I have over a year to work on this project...it may take me that long to finish!

I am seriously a proud big sister today. My brothers are doing such great things with their lives tomorrow! Andrew and Evelyn are buying a house! YEAH! It was a long road, but they didn't give up and have found a GREAT place! I can't wait to see it on Saturday! And my baby brother, Hoyt, is going off on a three week long hike in New Mexico with 20 other Boy Scouts. It's his first trip alone, and he traveled via Amtrack all the way there - 40 hours! I'm glad he's doing something positive with his time. I am so happy for both of them! I feel like I'm the only one who's not doing anything monumental tomorrow...

My three day weekend is here! Whoo hoo!

We're Back!

We've been back from our cruise for a week now & we're all ready to return. In fact, we're going back in October. Disney gave us a "Paradise Twice at an Amazing Price" coupon that was too good to pass up. So Yea for cruising again this year. I've tried to get my pictures from the cruise up on the slideshow here, but I'm having some difficulty.

Happy Easter! We dyed eggs and it was a very scary experience since two-year olds don't understand that meaning of "be careful". We ruined a few shirts and spilled a bit on the table, but miraculously in the end came out with 11 eggs! (I broke one when I was boiling them earlier in the day.) We had them overnight and Addison searched for them this morning. It was too scary to think about the Easter Bunny being in our house so we told her Tinkerbell hid the eggs and left her treats in her Easter basket. That made the crying stop.

Andrew & Evelyn found a house they like & are going to make an offer soon! Yea! I'm very excited. The house is a really cute 1950s home. I can't wait to see it in person!

34 days of school left! Whoo hoo!
